In accordance with the Government’s policy to upgrade Pakistan’s garment Industry, the Trade Development Authority Government of Pakistan has established Pakistan School of Fashion Design, Lahore with the collaboration of the Chamber Syndicate De La Couture Parisienne, Paris, France. (French Federation of Fashion Designers).
The School has become operational from the 7th of January 1995. The School operates under an experienced Director, directly working under a Board of Directors, appointed with the approval of the Ministry of Commerce, Islamabad. The School is affiliated to LES ECOLES DE LA CHAMBRE SYDICALE (School of the Federation of French Designers in Paris, France).
Mr. Oliver Lapidus, designer from the house of Ted Lapidus, has agreed to become member of the Board of Directors.
The total strength of students inducted per year is 30. The minimum qualification of admission is intermediate level in second division. The students are selected through nation wide advertisement by a selection Committee, selected through rigorous process involving artistic aptitude of the students.
The fee structure of the School comprises:-
a). Admission Fee-Rs.500/- non-refundable, payable once at the time of admission.
b). Tuition Fee-Rs.5,000/- per month payable monthly in advance, non-re fundable.
c). Computer and Workshop Fee-Rs.300/-per month, payable along with the Tuition Fee, monthly in advance, non-refundable.
d). Health Emergencies Fund-Rs.100/- per month, payable along with the Tuition Fee, monthly in advance, non-refundable.
e). Annual Examination Fee-Rs.1,000/- non-refundable, payable at the beginning of every academic year.
f). Security Deposits, payable on admission and refundable on leaving the School.

The subjects taught at the School are:-
- Draping (formation of patterns in 3 dimension on the Dress form)
- Hand Sewing
- Machine Sewing
- Pattern Making
- Fashion Drawing
- Textile Design
- Textile Technology
- History of Costume
- French
- Design Theory
- Computer Aided Design (CAD)
The course consists of a four-year degree course. The fourth year being mostly assigned to practical work both in the college and outside. As per curriculum the students will be required to be attached with the industry for a period of two months for apprenticeship programmes to get a first hand knowledge and experience and to be able their learning practically.
The Pakistan School of Fashion Design, Lahore, is equipped with a computer lab and well-stocked library with latest information on fashion trends and forecasts. A cafeteria for students is located in the School premises. For out-station students and visiting faculty hostel facilities are also available in close proximity to the School. Establishment of a Costume Library is planned.
